Tiger and Zebra Groups Discover Nature’s Wonders Through Butterfly Lifecycle Study
Children at Cashmore Early Years Centre in Bristol have embarked on an extraordinary early years learning journey this term, exploring the captivating world of butterfly lifecycles. This hands-on Bristol nursery experience has provided exceptional opportunities for scientific observation and nature discovery.
The early years practitioners at Cashmore Early Years Centre have introduced live caterpillars to the learning environment, creating an authentic educational experience that has thoroughly engaged the children. Using magnifying glasses, the children have developed their observational skills whilst learning proper care and respect for living creatures. The transformation from tiny caterpillars to larger specimens has amazed both children and early years staff, with several caterpillars already forming their cocoons.
The anticipation continues to build as the children await the magical emergence of butterflies, which will be celebrated with a special release ceremony in the nursery garden.

Hippo and Giraffe Groups Excel in Early Years Literacy and Language Development
The younger children at Cashmore Early Years Centre have demonstrated remarkable progress in their early years education through carefully structured literacy activities and storytelling sessions.
Early years practitioners have implemented a comprehensive reading programme featuring beloved children’s classics. ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ has proven particularly effective in supporting language development, helping children combine two words whilst extending their attention spans for complete narratives. The interactive nature of the story, especially the repeated phrase “what do you see?”, has encouraged active participation from all children in this Bristol nursery setting.
The literary journey has continued with ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, perfectly complementing the butterfly lifecycle theme and expanding the children’s vocabulary around different foods. Additionally, ‘Duck in the Truck’ has introduced crucial early years phonics concepts, helping children recognise rhyming patterns and understand story sequencing.
This comprehensive approach to early years education demonstrates Cashmore Early Years Centre’s commitment to providing outstanding Bristol nursery experiences that support every child’s development and learning journey.
