This term, children at Cashmore Early Years Centre have enjoyed a series of enriching outings that supported their learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Children in the Giraffe and Hippo groups took a short walk to their local green space, The Urban Park. This local trip provided a valuable opportunity to explore the surrounding environment and engage in physical activity. Once at the park, the children enthusiastically explored the play equipment, with the big slide emerging as a clear favourite. The outing encouraged social interaction, physical development, and a sense of community connection—key elements of high-quality early years education.
Meanwhile, the Tiger and Zebra groups embarked on an exciting visit to Windmill Hill City Farm. Their journey began with a train ride from Lawrence Hill to Bedminster, followed by a walk to the farm—an experience that introduced children to different modes of transport and helped build confidence in navigating their local area.
At the farm, children engaged in hands-on learning as they met a variety of animals, including cows, pigs, and baby goats. These sensory-rich experiences supported their understanding of the natural world and animal life, while also fostering curiosity and communication skills. After enjoying their packed lunches, the children explored the gravel play area, which offered a new and stimulating outdoor play environment.
Upon returning to the nursery, children were eager to share their experiences, demonstrating the lasting impact of these outings on their learning and emotional development.
Cashmore Early Years Centre extended sincere thanks to the parents and carers who volunteered their time to support these trips. Their involvement plays a vital role in enabling the nursery to offer meaningful, real-world learning experiences that children will remember for years to come.
