Hartcliffe Nursery School Launches Updated Curriculum Framework

Jan 9, 2026

Hartcliffe Nursery School has unveiled its comprehensive updated curriculum, reflecting the school’s commitment to providing every child with the best possible start in life.

The newly published curriculum document sets out the school’s vision for children as learners, emphasising that every child needs to feel safe and secure so they have the capacity to learn and develop. At the heart of Hartcliffe’s practice are loving relationships, with staff striving to build positive, supportive, respectful and authentic relationships with each other, children, families and the wider community.

The curriculum has been carefully informed by a range of frameworks and approaches, including the DfE Early Years Foundation Stage, Birth to 5 Matters, Bristol Differentiated Early Years Outcomes, and the Bristol Characteristics of Effective Learning. The school has also drawn on research-based programmes such as Accounting Early for Life-long Learning (ACE), Building Learning Power (BLP), and Hanen – Learning Language and Loving It.

Hartcliffe’s curriculum is built on six core values: emotional well-being, aspirational learning and curriculum, empowerment, joy through curiosity and creativity in play, relationships based on love, community and connection, and inclusion where all children belong. The school celebrates uniqueness and diversity whilst ensuring every child feels valued.

Parents and families can read the full curriculum document on the Hartcliffe Nursery School website.
