Children at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School have been taking part in Safer Internet Day this month, learning important skills about digital citizenship from an early age.
The children have been learning how to take a photo, asking permission first and showing it to their peers, developing understanding of consent and respect when using technology. They have been discussing what devices they have at home and what they ‘play’ and ‘do’ on devices at home, helping children reflect on their digital experiences and sharing their understanding of technology in everyday life.
The team have been discussing how to keep safe whilst on the internet, introducing age-appropriate conversations about online safety and establishing positive foundations for responsible technology use as children grow. These important discussions help children understand that whilst technology is wonderful, it needs to be used safely and respectfully.
