Knowle West Nursery School Brings Families Together for World Book Day

Mar 27, 2026

Knowle West Nursery School celebrated World Book Day with a range of reading‑focused activities that brought children, families and staff together to highlight the importance of stories in early years education. Across the week, parents and carers were invited to stay during morning drop‑off to share books with the children, helping to create a calm and engaging start to the nursery day. These shared moments supported the EYFS focus on communication, language development and fostering a love of reading from an early age.

Staff also took part by sharing their favourite stories with the children, encouraging reading for pleasure and strengthening the nursery school’s culture of storytelling. Alongside this, families were provided with information about the value of reading together at home, reinforcing how regular shared reading can support children’s early literacy and language skills.

To mark World Book Day, every child received a book voucher, giving them the opportunity to choose a story of their own. This helped extend the celebration beyond the nursery school and encouraged children to continue developing positive reading habits at home.

Knowle West Nursery School would like to thank all the families who took part and supported the celebration, helping to make World Book Day a meaningful and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
