New Core Book Videos from St Pauls Nursery School

Nov 20, 2025

St Pauls Nursery School & Children’s Centre has released new core book videos to support children’s literacy development and love of reading.

Core books are an essential approach to how children learn to read. They are a set of books that children read again and again and know really well. This helps them become familiar and confident with practising the storybook language, so they can retell and reenact the stories, characters and words, getting them ready for reading.

St Pauls Nursery School & Children’s Centre loves books and wants their book collections to ignite children’s imagination and creativity. By reading core books again and again with children, the nursery helps them develop confidence in their literacy skills whilst building a strong foundation for future reading success.

The latest collection of core book videos features staff members reading beloved children’s stories. Becky reads “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”, Nicky reads “Duck in the Truck”, and Amber reads “Shark in the Park”. These videos allow children to experience the joy of these stories at home with their families, extending the learning from nursery into the home environment.

Families can explore all of St Pauls Nursery School & Children’s Centre’s core book videos on YouTube, providing a valuable resource for supporting children’s language development and fostering a love of reading through repeated, familiar stories that children can enjoy time and time again.
