This month, children at Rosemary Nursery School have been exploring Easter, stories and big ideas through shared celebrations, family involvement and curiosity-led learning.
In Rosemary Class 2, children have been learning about Easter through a blend of stories, hands-on experiences and time spent with their families. A stay and play session included an Easter egg hunt outdoors, where children followed clues, explored the space and celebrated together. These shared moments supported children’s confidence and sense of belonging, while strengthening links between home and nursery.
Stories have been central to learning across the school, with The Big Hungry Bear inspiring activities in both classes. In Class 2, children chopped strawberries and shared them with friends, just like the characters in the story. This supported turn-taking, cooperation and independence, while also developing fine motor skills through safe food preparation. In Class 1, children returned to the story throughout the month, acting out events, predicting what might happen next and using props to extend their play, building language, imagination and early comprehension.
Children in Rosemary Class 1 also followed a growing interest in space after learning about the Artemis 2 rocket launch. They asked thoughtful questions about astronauts and space travel, explored new vocabulary and shared ideas with one another. This curiosity encouraged problem solving, collaborative talk and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Through stories, play, celebrations and real-life experiences, children at Rosemary Nursery School continue to develop communication, confidence and social skills, while exploring new ideas in meaningful and engaging ways.
