Children at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School have been making the most of the good weather this month, enjoying outdoor play and learning alongside wonderful World Book Day and Eid celebrations.
The children have been going on bug hunts, creating new obstacle courses with blocks and beginning to plant in the nursery allotment. The team hope to have some yummy things to eat soon as the plants grow and develop! These outdoor experiences help children connect with nature, develop physical skills through active play and learn about growing food whilst building anticipation and responsibility as they care for their plants.
World Book Day brought a lovely visit from Year 3 children at St Werburgh’s Primary School, who came and read books to the nursery children. This intergenerational sharing of stories helped build connections between the schools whilst developing a love of reading and giving both older and younger children the chance to enjoy books together.
The nursery also celebrated Eid with a wonderful party, bringing the community together to mark this important occasion. These cultural celebrations help children understand and respect different traditions whilst building a strong sense of community and belonging.
These varied experiences show how St Werburgh’s Park combines outdoor learning, literacy development and cultural celebration to create a rich, inclusive environment where children can explore, learn and celebrate together.
