Acorns Room at Filton Avenue Nursery School has been making the most of a wonderful delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables from Children’s Kitchen this month, with the highlight being making their very own orange juice.
The children have been getting hands-on with the produce, exploring different fruits and vegetables and practising their fine motor skills through chopping, squeezing and handling. It was incredibly special and rewarding for the children to make their own juice from scratch, experiencing the satisfaction of creating something delicious they could taste and enjoy.
These food experiences help children develop practical life skills, build confidence in handling and preparing food, and understand where their food comes from. Through hands-on exploration, children are developing fine motor control whilst learning about healthy eating and gaining independence in the kitchen.
