The Limes Nursery School is so proud of all the vegetables that have been grown in the allotment this year, and this week Green Room had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
The children made a delicious stew with the vegetables they had grown, working alongside Claudia to prepare and cook their harvest. There is something truly special about children eating food they have grown themselves, and it is a wonderful way to bring the whole journey from seed to plate full circle. This real-world experience connects children to where food comes from, builds understanding of nutrition and healthy eating, and gives a genuine sense of pride and achievement.
Growing vegetables at The Limes is about far more than just producing food. It has been a learning journey throughout the year, with children planting seeds, caring for plants, watching them grow and develop, and finally harvesting the results of their efforts. When children can taste and enjoy the vegetables they have nurtured from seed to harvest, the cycle is complete and the learning becomes deeply meaningful and memorable.
