Children at Rosemary Nursery School have been settling into the nursery day this month, with Class 1 starting some new weekly routines and Class 2 exploring the colours of the rainbow.
In Class 1, bread making is now part of group time on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons, with children taking turns on a rota. Green Group went first. They looked at and felt the ingredients, watched the mixture change when the water went in, and mixed it all together. Each child took a loaf home to share with their family. Toothbrushing sessions have started too, on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings, so children are building the habit at nursery as well as at home. Outside, children have been painting with water on the chalkboard, stretching up high to make big marks, patterns and shapes.
Class 2 spent the week mixing paints to see what new colours they could make, and talking with friends about their favourites. After looking closely at pictures of rainbows, the whole class coloured, cut and stuck pieces together to make a giant rainbow for the classroom wall. They also sang I Can See a Rainbow at group time, naming each colour as they went. The children are very proud of the finished display.
