This month, children in the Red Room at The Limes Nursery School enjoyed a memorable visit from a range of farm animals, bringing learning to life in an exciting and hands-on way.
Children had the chance to see rabbits, a horse, a donkey, alpacas and lambs up close, sparking lots of interest and thoughtful conversation. Many children watched carefully, asked questions and shared what they already knew, showing curiosity and confidence as they explored the animals together.
Group times gave children opportunities to talk about the different animals and think about the sounds they make. These shared discussions supported listening and speaking skills and helped children build new vocabulary linked to farm animals and their lives.
Children also learned about how to keep themselves and the animals safe. With support from staff, they thought about gentle behaviour, calm movements and following simple rules, helping them to understand care, respect and responsibility. Experiences like this support learning across communication, personal development and understanding the world, and create lasting memories for children at The Limes.
