Celebrating Together at Cashmore’s Teddy Bears Picnic

Jul 23, 2026

This week at Cashmore Early Years Centre, children across all groups prepared for and celebrated the much-loved Teddy Bears Picnic, a special event where families come together to celebrate the nursery year and say goodbye to school leavers.

The excitement built as children played a part in getting everything ready. Children explored their creativity through a variety of art and craft activities. Giant butterflies were decorated using glue and paint, giving children opportunities to experiment with different textures and colours whilst developing their fine motor skills. Zebra and Tiger Groups worked together to make long paper chains, and Giraffe and Hippo Groups created bright bunting to decorate the garden. These collaborative activities supported children’s communication and teamwork, as well as their sense of pride in preparing a shared space.

At group time, all children took part in making their own jam sandwiches. They carefully spread the jam and folded their bread, showing great concentration and developing independence in everyday tasks. This supported early understanding of healthy routines and basic food preparation skills. The garden was full of joy during the picnic, with children dancing to music, popping bubbles and enjoying the food they had helped to prepare. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate together and reflect on the year.

Cashmore Early Years Centre thanks all the families who donated items or joined in the celebration. The support made this special event possible. Cashmore wishes goodbye and good luck to those children moving on to school, and a warm ‘see you soon’ to those returning in September. Everyone is wished a lovely summer holiday.
