Children in Chestnut and Beech at Hartcliffe Nursery School visited Hareclive Primary School this month to watch Wonder Baby, a show by Travelling Light Theatre.
The trip started with a walk through the primary school to the big hall, and the children did well exploring a new building together. Before the show began, they played with props and loose parts, using sounds and actions instead of words to show how they were feeling.
The performers then told the story of Wonder Baby with large loose parts, colourful fabrics and everyday objects that turned into characters, places and exciting moments. The children watched closely as each object changed into something new.
To finish, the children lay on mats while the performers waved fabrics gently above them to calming music, a quiet end to the morning. It showed the children that a story can be told through movement, sound and materials as well as words.
