Orange juice and library trips in Acorns at Filton Avenue Nursery School

Oct 23, 2026

Children in Acorns at Filton Avenue Nursery School have been making fresh orange juice and visiting the local library as they settle into the new term.

Making the juice gave children the chance to do things for themselves: handling the oranges, squeezing out the juice and then tasting what they had made. It was a good way to learn how fruit can be prepared and enjoyed, and children grew more confident with each step.

On their trips to the local library, children have found new stories to enjoy, listened during group activities and shown a growing interest in books. Talking about the stories together has helped their communication skills too.

Alongside all this, children have been making new friends, trying different activities and getting to know their surroundings. The team is proud of how readily they have taken to new experiences and is looking forward to the rest of the term in Acorns.
