Exploring All Weathers at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School

Jan 30, 2026

Children from both classes at St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School have been enjoying all weathers this week, exploring rain, puddles and even a double rainbow.

Children have been collecting rain in pots, splashing and transporting water from puddles, working together as a team to create purposeful play and solve problems. They have been discussing what happens when water is added to mud and what creations could be made, exploring the properties of materials and how they transform when combined.

The children were delighted to see a double rainbow, discussing where the rainbow came from and where it goes as well as singing the rainbow song. This wonderful natural phenomenon sparked curiosity and conversations about weather and colour whilst inspiring creative expression through song.

These outdoor experiences in all weathers help children develop their understanding of the natural world, build teamwork and problem-solving skills, and appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature whilst engaging in meaningful, hands-on learning through play.
