All aboutSt Philip’s Marsh Nursery Schoolin Bristol
St Philip’s Marsh Nursery School is a lively, flourishing, educational community serving children from 2 to 5 years old and their families. This inclusive Maintained Nursery School, run by the Local Authority, is in a unique location, with families travelling from many areas of Bristol to join us. We are proud to be the centre of our community, putting children and their families at the heart of everything we do. Our nursery is staffed by an experienced team including the Headteacher, Deputy Head, qualified teachers, Early Years Practitioners and support staff. Together, they support children to develop language, social skills, self-confidence, and independence, in particular. We celebrate the diverse cultures, languages and life experiences of all the families who form our vibrant community. Our deeply inclusive ethos ensures that all children are supported to learn and grow. Our experienced team use a range of supportive provision, such as visuals, Makaton and early intervention groups to ensure all children make progress from their individual starting points.

Why chooseSt Philip’s Marsh Nursery School

Child-Centred
At St Philip’s Marsh Nursery School, we firmly place children at the heart of everything we do, creating an environment in which we meet our young learners where they are, using their interests to guide our activities. We offer a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum within a creative, stimulating learning environment. Our clear daily routine gives children the security and structure they need to explore their learning. Families praise our nursery’s efficiency and accommodating nature, noting how the dedicated team helps children to thrive through their child-centred philosophy.

Inclusive, Respectful Community
At St Philip’s Marsh Nursery, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school that welcomes all children from all communities. The school creates an environment where everyone—children and adults, family members and staff, irrespective of age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, or religion—feels safe, secure, well-supported, valued, respected, and empowered. This inclusive approach has earned the school recognition as a friendly, creative setting where staff work hard to give children the best possible start to their school life. The school’s commitment to treating each child as a unique individual helps build a strong foundation of mutual respect throughout the community.

Outstanding Outdoor Learning Environment
The school boasts a wonderful garden that provides exceptional opportunities for outdoor exploration and learning. Parents particularly praise this outdoor space for its richness and variety, describing it as one of the best playgrounds with plenty of outdoor areas and engaging activities for children. The garden serves as an extension of the classroom, offering children different contexts to develop confidence, physical skills, and a connection with the natural world. Staff thoughtfully integrate outdoor experiences into the curriculum, creating a holistic approach to early education that balances indoor and outdoor learning opportunities.
