Why chooseSpeedwell Nursery School

Building Close, Supportive Relationships

Speedwell Nursery School has earned a reputation as a setting that provides not only superb educational opportunities but also delivers genuine love, care, and nurture that mirrors the attentive care parents themselves would provide. The enthusiastic staff take particular interest in children as individuals, quickly identifying concerns while nurturing specific interests and abilities. Parents who have entrusted multiple children to the nursery over many years speak of how Speedwell has helped their children grow and thrive in all developmental areas. This exceptional level of personalised care creates an environment where children love every day of their nursery experience.

Play Based, Creative Curriculum

Our nursery is rooted in play-based learning, where children grow with friends and trusted adults. Our experienced teachers create opportunities inspired by children’s interests and fascinations, covering all EYFS areas in motivating, inclusive ways.

We value creative and artistic learning for emotional well-being. Each room has well-stocked art areas, construction space, and inviting sensory and role-play resources. We prioritise sharing books and stories, with children developing and acting out their own ideas.

Our music specialist holds weekly sessions with songs, instruments and dancing, plus regular family music sessions. We work with the Children’s Kitchen group, focusing on planting, picking and cooking from our garden. We love welcoming visitors to share their expertise – this year, including Travelling Light Theatre, SARI for water safety, and mums with new babies for our growth and development learning sessions.

Inviting Environments Inside and Out

We believe connecting with nature provides rich, joyful learning opportunities. Our extensive purpose-built spaces enable indoor and outdoor curriculum implementation daily.

Our large garden offers various areas to explore, providing space to run, chase, ride, and build healthy muscles, as well as mature trees that offer peaceful shade, where children can spot birds and notice other creatures. Children plant seeds and tend plants to understand food origins and make healthy choices.

Our homely indoor spaces inspire children to pursue their interests and engage in new learning experiences. Rooms encourage independence and deep play involvement, with an abundance of open-ended resources that nurture creativity and celebrate the unique ways children learn together.

The staff are enthusiastic about making the days engaging for the children, particularly my son’s keyworker. She takes such genuine interest in the children as individuals, quick to highlight any concerns and nurture any interests. I can’t fault the care they all give in Wrens Room, even down to the reception staff making the children feel special first thing in the morning and how well the site is maintained and looked after.

Speedwell Nursery, it’s a very special Nursery that not only provides outstanding opportunities but also provides love, care and nurture to children in the way that we would as parents. It’s been a wonderful experience for my child, and I really have not found an area that needs improvement. We can’t thank you enough. Our son has loved every single day of his Nursery life! You have all helped him to grow.

After 8 years and 4 children all I can say is thank you! Speedwell nursery I believe truly is the best! The staff are so friendly and approachable they make the children feel so settled and communication between staff and parents is brilliant. The nursery has a wide range of daily activities to help promote learn and play and they especially try to involve children’s interests which make them love coming to school. All the facilities are amazing and really helps promote the children’s independence although plenty of help is available if required and their outdoor space is fantastic and there’s always hands on messy learning available which was always my daughter’s favourite.
