Story time happens every day at Little Hayes Nursery School, and this term children are also taking books home each week to share with their families.
Children have been going back to traditional nursery rhymes with books, puppets and props, and learning some new ones too. The core books this term are about feelings, saying goodbye, making friends and starting school, which helps children talk about what they are going through as they settle in. Using story maps and props, children are learning to retell some of these stories in their own words.
Every child has a book bag and can borrow a book each Wednesday, choosing from stories and non-fiction. They bring it back in the named bag the following Wednesday and swap it for a new one. The team would love to hear which books children enjoy at home.
